For the 3rd year in a row the Peterson Family will be returning to Hopkins Center for the Arts. This year they will be doing 2 (one matinee and one evening) shows on Saturday December 13th 2008. Jeanne Peterson is a legendary figure in the Minnesota music scene whose unique playing style has been adored by musicians and fans alike for almost seventy years. With an ever-growing list of admirers, which includes instantly recognizable names such as George Benson, Jeff Lorber and David Sanborn, she continues to amaze with her passion for all things musical. Donny Osmond calls her, “a musical treasure, a legend - my Minnesota mom" while jazz historian, author and recording artist Ben Sidran says, “Jeanne Peterson is my mother too. I am proud to be an honorary member of her musical brood. She's taught us all how to grow old with style. Her playing classic, too-fisted! She don't play like a girl.”
On "Young And Foolish" the matriarch of Minnesota’s First Family of Jazz takes listeners on a wonderful musical journey with unique interpretations of standards which are all delivered in her own inimitable style. Her trademark licks and precision timing breathe new life into these classic songs, and it is obvious after just a few listens that this evergreen pianist is a very special lady. With a style that incorporates a contemporary feel yet recalls the playing of legendary musicians such as Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum, Jeanne Peterson is in a class of her own. One of only two women to be inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, she is fully deserving of every of every honor, award or accolade that she receives.
